THE WORLD OF CARL ZEISS

All IVI sunglasses are fitted with premium quality sunlenses from Carl Zeiss Vision. For the last 165 years, the innovations of Carl Zeiss have fostered the technical application of lenses from sunglasses to satellite optics. This credibility has not gone unrecognized; the durability and clarity of Zeiss lenses are responsible for capturing some of history’s greatest moments on the record- from Man’s first landing on the moon to Nobel prize worthy, scientific discoveries viewed at a molecular level.

The company’s obsessive pursuit for perfection stretches back to its earliest foundations in Jena, Germany as a microscopy workshop for precision mechanics up to their present day involvement as an industry leader in the sunlens category. Today’s Zeiss factory in Varese, Italy couples this long standing German tradition for optical technology with handcrafted, Italian eyewear heritage.

This means your pair of IVI sunglasses guarantee superior performance optics for the best final result. Want proof? Hold your frames up to the light and check out the laser etched Zeiss verification. The semi-visible ‘Z’ engraved onto each lens certifies the conformity to the highly restrictive standards, which introduced market parameters and procedures in abrasion, optical and durability testing.

Carl Zeiss has helped document some of the most iconic moments in human history.

When NASA astronauts landed on the Moon in 1969, unforgettable images from the harsh conditions of the lunar surface were captured with camera lenses by Carl Zeiss.

In one of the most famous photographs of the 20th century, Apollo 15 astronaut Buzz Aldrin walks on the surface of the moon near the leg of the lunar module Eagle.

Aldrin and Apollo 11 Commander Neill Armstrong explored the “Sea of Tranquility’ for two and a half hours while crewmate Michael Collins orbited above in the command module Columbia.

At the foot of the Pre-Alpine Mountains, a land of water, valleys and castles, the Province of Varese, is a perfect example of harmony between man and nature.

The history of human settlement has never damaged the landscape, if ever, it has made it richer. Seen from above, the province resembles a palette of colors- a patchwork of mountains, valleys, woods and rivers.

Over the last century, the region’s rich artisanal culture has become synonymous with eyewear- meeting the demans of pilots and sports drivers who required protection, comfort, and optimum vision.

It is here that Carl Zeiss Vision Sunlens has launched its new global opitcal powerhouse, entirely dedicated to the research, development, and production of high quality sunlenses.
